DON’T think about how to do your job better.
Instead, think about how to make yourself obsolete.
The difference between the two approaches is that the first one is incremental and leads to only marginal improvement.
The second one shoots straight for the target, because the best way a job can be done is by having things run so smoothly that you’re not even needed anymore.
Don’t worry that you might lose your job – if you’re really that good, they’ll just set you to manage bigger and better things.
All things being equal, how you think about things is what gives you the edge.
