I don’t know why this question popped into my mind, but knowing that nothing’s without a reason, I’ll try to explore it anyway.
I don’t think a sound can hear itself. A sound is a wave. It will be in perfect harmony with itself at all times so it couldn’t possibly hear itself.
On the contrary, to a sound, silence must be very noisy indeed.
So what came first: silence or noise? Is silence simply a pause between noises? Or is it the other way around?
My brain hurts…
